According to the legislation, all refugees, including children, will be detained in shipping containers while their asylum cases are processed. Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orban, says the new bill is in response to recent terror attacks in Europe carried out by refugees. The U-N Refugee Agency expressed deep concern about the legislation. The U-N-H-C-R said the law violates Hungary’s obligations under international and E-U laws. Hungary has taken a tough anti-refugee stance over the past few years. It built razor wire fences on its borders with Serbia and Croatia in 20-15, and has expelled or jailed thousands of asylum seekers for what it called illegal border-crossing.
